Community Activities
In July, Steven Mears Sydenham partnered with Pristine Youth Centre for a special community outreach session following the tragic loss of a young person who regularly attended the centre. The devastating house fire deeply affected the local community, and we felt it was important to offer a space for reflection, support, and healing.
We hosted a grief workshop for young people and their parents, creating a safe environment to talk openly about loss and the emotional impact of losing a friend at such a young age. The session was heartfelt and powerful, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share and learn together.
At the end of the workshop, children and parents wrote personal messages to the young boy, which were attached to balloons. Together, we walked to his home to show our support and condolences to the family. The messages were later hung at the memorial site, creating a touching tribute that honoured his memory.
We are thankful to everyone who took part and proud to have supported a community in mourning. The strength and compassion shown by the young people and their families was truly inspiring.
